Product Description The BF110 began life as a one of a fad of strategic fighters during the 1030`s. Its envisioned duties covered Long-range bomber escort, Independent ops over enemy territory, Long-range defensive capability, fighter-bomber ops against fixed ground targets and operations to support the army. The conflicting requirements to fulfill these roles dictated a relatively large twin-enginged multi-seat aircraft in which some maneuverability was sacrificed to attain other objectives. Due to its success during campaigns in Poland, the low countries and France, with the assistance of German propagandists it gained an awe-inspiring reputation during the first months of the war but during the Battle of Britain their formations were savaged by the more nimble single engined fighters, losing 300 of the 357 they had started with. The BF110 was due to be replaced by the Me210 but serious design flaws placed the program in serious jeopardy, development of the 110 continuing as a result. Essentially it was the same as the F series with minor detail changes and strengthening of the airframe to accommodate additional payload and new Daimler DB 605 engines. Armament consisted initially of four 7.9m MG17 guns placed in the nose and 2 20mm MGFF canon in the lower nose fixed and firing forward. In addition a single 7.9mm MG15 machine gun fired rearward from the cockpit. The cannon armament was later upgraded to 2 20mm MG151 and the rear gun to a Zwilling MG81z two of the nose guns were removed and fitted with flame dampers as the muzzle flashes from them blinded most pilots. As a day fighter with underwing rockets, external fuel tanks and underfuselage gun pack or as a nightfighter with radar aerials, flame dampers and droptanks its performance deteriorated and handling became a problem resulting in a redesigned vertical stabilizer. With the advent of more superior single engined fighters the BF110 found itself being outclassed and was gradually withdrawn to Nightfighter duties and defense of the homeland. Included Props Textures Poses 1 x Pilot pose. Can be used for gunner also. May need modification dependent on figure used. ![]() This item is available for sale at Renderosity.
