Product Description
Very little is known of the origin of the DragonSnake, as it was discovered in 1999 on the Dark Side Of The Moon along with an alien of an unknown species. A declassified image of the discovery can be seen in the additional product images. Whilst an autopsy on the pilot was inconclusive, most remarkably the craft was intact and returned to Earth via the NSA`s Space Shuttle Enterprise cargo bay.
It took less than a year of testing at Area 51 (where some technology from the ship was reverse-engineered for use in the Stealth Bomber) before the craft was deemed safe to fly by humans. The craft was officially named VFA-8 and given to the Navy for testing... where the Navy pilots gave it the name `DragonSnake` because of the distinctive canopy.
During testing the ship showed little promise in a fighting role. Many pilots felt that the ship would not accept weapons, and indeed service logs confirmed a 70% percent failure rate.
This changed when the DragonSnake was loaned to the [classified] government for desert trials. During a routine training flight, the ship was tasked to destroy a de-salinization plant. Without warning, the neurotronic weaponry suddenly activated itself. The two fangs powered up and unleashed a bolt of fusionic energy destroying the target instantly.
While the ships autonomy caused concern, the overwhelming desire of the [classified] government to wipe out the civilian infrastructure of its rival over-ruled this concern. It was often stated by pilots, that when the ship was perched atop desert cliffs to recharge its solar powered power units, they felt the ship was `waiting`. During combat, the ship seemed to express `pleasure`, moreso when the ship was used against soft targets.
The fall-out rate out of DragonSnake Pilots was incredibly high, indeed, pilots often stated the maxim `only a real artist could paint with this brush` when talking about the fighter. This, combined with public opinion against the [classified] governments tactics, led to the DragonSnake being withdrawn from service.
Navy scientists eventually erased the `bad` personality and de-venomed the ship and is now used purely for aerobatic flying displays (this colour scheme is also included here). However some pilots still swear that the DragonSnake is just coiled and waiting for action.
