Product Description
Very few things are more satisfying than the expression on pursuing henchmen`s faces when you escape using a rocket pack!
The rocket pack (sometimes called a rocket belt) has been a dream of science fiction since comic strips of the 1920`s. In the early 1960`s it became a reality when Bell Aerosystems built a rocket pack for the U.S. Army, using hydrogen peroxide as fuel. This realistic Poser smart prop, is based on those designs.
The center gas cylinder contains nitrogen gas, and two outside cylinders contain concentrated hydrogen peroxide. The nitrogen presses the hydrogen peroxide onto a catalyst, which decomposes the hydrogen peroxide into a mixture of superheated steam and oxygen. These gases are routed through two insulated tubes to rocket nozzles. The pilot can vector the thrust by altering the direction of the nozzles through hand-operated controls.
April 20, 1961, the first free flight in history of a rocket pack was performed. Harold Graham reached an altitude of approximately 4 feet and forward for 108 feet. The entire flight lasted 13 seconds.
The short flight duration (21 seconds), short range (120 meters) , the need for extensive service personel and other issues limited the usefulness of the rocket pack and the Army canceled involvement with further research. However, private development of the concept has continued and flight durations over 30 seconds have been achieved with more recent models with a maximum speed of close to 60 miles per hour and a maximum altitude or about 100 feet.
The package includes two smart props: Rocket Pack - parented to figure chest Helmet - parented to figure head
The package also includes poses to fit the rocket pack and helmet to DAZ "Michael 3" and Poser 6 "James" and arm poses for both figures (Poses/Rocket Pack folder). For other figures, make small adjustments to the X, Y, Z positions and the set the harness and corset morphs for the rocket pack to fit.
The Forward-Back and Right-Left morphs move the control yoke.
